Line (abbreviation or symbol: ln) is a unit of length equal to 140 of an inch or 0.635 millimeters. Line is an obsolete unit of length in Britain and France, used until 1824 as a unit of 112 of an inch. Line can be used as an alternative to millimeter to measure tiny things, such as small insects.

Line in this sense is not to be confused with homonym ligne, which is 112 of an inch.
